Hearing Loss

Hearing loss is a major public health issue. And it’s not exclusive to the “older generation.” In fact, more and more people under the age of 40 suffer from hearing impairment, often due to Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). It can be temporary or permanent, and it can range from mild to severe. Some of the most common causes of hearing loss are:

  • NIHL – Contrary to popular belief, aging is not the number one cause of hearing loss. Most hearing loss occurs due to exposure to loud sounds, which can be prevented.
  • Injury to your ears or head, including ruptured ear drums and repeated ear infections
  • Ototoxic medications
  • The normal aging process
  • Earwax build-up
  • Congenital conditions
